Re'eh | The Ethical Consumption of Meat

Does Parshat Re'eh present a Torah ethic for consuming meat? At first glance, our parshah gives us a wholehearted endorsement to eat meat, "as much as your soul desires." Despite this explicit language, Chazal derive numerous caveats to the above approval. We will attempt to deal with this conundrum with the help of parshanim and Photorealistic art.
